Yes, it is possible to make money online with a blog. All you need to have to start making money blogging, is a blog, a domain name, a reliable webhosting service, some affiliate programs and the will to blog. If you're not the right person for this, then don't start it in the first place. I'm saying this because most bloggers start a blog ( usually at Blogger.com, which is a free service ), put up a ton of ads and affiliate links and wait for miracles to happen and money to start rolling in. It's not like that. You must be patient, as money won't start to roll in in the first day after you've created a blog. Patience is the key..
But first of all, what's a blog and how to get one? A blog is a simple to use website, a kind of an online journal, where you can write what ever you want ( of course, excepting questionable content, which is not accepted and for which you may be banned from Google's Search Engine Pages Results or SERPS ). It's pretty simple: you can go to http://www.blogger.com or http://www.wordpress.com, if you want to start with a free blog, for which you won't have to pay any fees. If you want to start a serious blog about making money online or about affiliate marketing or anything else you want, I recommend you to find a paid hosting service, which will offer you more features than a free one ( such as Blogger.com or WordPress.com ). Once you've found your favorite host, you need a domain name..a real domain name, and not a free one. Don't get me wrong, those domains aren't bad if you're maintaining a site or blog for fun or as a place to talk with your friends..But if you really want to make money online and want to establish your web presence firmly, then you must have your own domain name.
The domain names are cheap, starting from 2-3 dollars per year and up to 20-30 or more dollars per year, according to the extra features you may want to add ( like hosting, private registration, customized email addresses etc ). After you're done with selecting your hosting service and domain name, it's time to concentrate on your blog's content, which is important too. First of all, just choose a niche where you want to blog, such as: making money online, music, movies, news etc. Then, try to create original articles and not to copy and paste them on your blog, from other sources. This is very wrong and it means that you duplicate the same article or post. And you have to know that Google hates duplicate content.
